In the name of silliness and hitting the release valve on stress, this week’s Blog is a few memes I’ve enjoyed about therapy and mental health.  I have to insert a line or two about each image for SEO purposes, so excuse the babbling while you enjoy these memes!

I love this grumpy lil penguin, trying out self care and connection in his lil penguin life.

This is a great example of cognitive defusion from ACT.  We have all kinds of thoughts!  Having a thought doesn’t make it true.

Listen to your brain when it tells you to slow down and rest!  It WILL hit that emergency “off” switch, probably when you’re least expecting it or at the most inconvenient time possible.

Therapy Memes

This is a great example of dialectics, the idea that more than one thing can be true at the same time.  You can feel gratitude and dissatisfaction, or love and frustration, or excitement and anxiety.  Humans are complex and we can feel more than one way about something.

Therapy Memes

I love this one.  Let yourself have the little pleasures that keep you going throughout the week.  I love cookie dough, watching no-stress romance TV shows, and playing video games in bed with my cats on Saturday mornings.  That being said, watch your caffeine intake, it can make anxiety go up if you drink too much!

Therapy Memes

Ha!  Leslie is doing an amazing job of stating her needs here in a clear and direct way.  Maybe a little excessive, but how often have we all felt this way?  I text this image to my husband if I’m going through a particularly stressful day so we can both have a laugh and get some humor to mix in with the stress.

Therapy Memes

I love my Type A’s.  It seems so simple and yet it’s so huge to remind ourselves to slow down, take time to enjoy things, and not be focused on competitions or being the best all the time.

Therapy Memes

Oof.  Try prehistoric times, time traveling marshmallow.  Being chased by dinosaurs is probably less stressful than the 2020’s.  Take care of yourselves out there!
